What Cairava is
Cairava is software that helps a hospital carry out a discharge plan it has already approved. It organises the plan into a 30-day workflow, helps patients and caregivers complete it, and directs the care team toward things that have not been resolved.
Cairava does not practise medicine. It does not diagnose, does not interpret your symptoms, does not recommend or change treatment, and does not replace your care team. Nothing it shows you is medical advice.
Cairava is not for emergencies. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Who may use it
The patient-facing program is for adults enrolled by a participating hospital, and for caregivers those patients have named. The care-team software is for staff the hospital has authorised.
Using this website does not enrol you in anything.
Your part
- Give accurate information, and correct it when it changes.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself.
- Tell your care team if you think something in your plan is wrong. Do not rely on Cairava to catch it.
- Do not use Cairava to report an emergency.
What you may not do
- Use the service on someone else's behalf without their permission.
- Try to reach information that is not yours.
- Interfere with the service, or attempt to break its security.
- Copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the software.
Text messages
If you take part in the messaging program, its terms — what is sent, how often, HELP, and STOP — are on the SMS page and form part of these terms.
Availability
We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Messages depend on mobile carriers, which we do not control. Planned maintenance, outages, and delayed or undelivered messages are possible, and the program is designed on the assumption that they will happen.
This is one of the reasons the service is not for emergencies.
Ownership
Cairava owns the software, its design, and its content, apart from clinical material the hospital supplies and information you provide. You may use the service for its purpose; nothing here transfers ownership to you.
Disclaimers and limits
Except where the law does not allow it, the service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and Cairava is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
These limits do not change the hospital's responsibility for your medical care.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
